Mike is the CFO of Blackpowder Holdings.  He brings 30+ years of finance and accounting experience to the role.  Mike retired from CarMax, Inc. in 2022 after more than 23 years with the company.  He spent most of his tenure at CarMax growing its captive finance arm, CarMax Auto Finance (CAF), from $600mm in managed receivables when he started to more than $15bn when he retired.  In addition to the traditional accounting and finance functions, Mike was one of the architects of CAF’s securitization program which allowed the company to operate the finance business with very little of its own capital.  He was also heavily involved in all strategic decisions including credit policy and risk management.  In his last 4 years at CarMax, Mike spearheaded a major effort to modernize and upgrade CAF’s IT infrastructure.
